My aspirations in The Long Now installation are for the transformation in awareness of present time. We have so many markers of time which subtlety shift and redirect our understanding of placement. These markers are getting closer and closer together as we progress into the information age, and unfortunately as a whole, our ability to hold attention is weakening. This art installati

Through Lewycky’s obsessive drawing thrums with light and contrast transitions itself, he utilizes Monet as icon and a dynamic historical reference that he intends to contain within another perception of time. Each element of the work, including the use of the porcelain pulls, implies a specific notion of time.

The giant slab of clay with its upchurned spires is fresh and shiny at the time of the opening reception but will dry and begin to transform in…

This drawing exists within three dimension of time:

Similar to the Book series I’m interested in how the physical properties of the piece change throughout the next 100 years and well beyond. Due to its durable properties, the porcelain will take the role of the constant while the ink and paper are allowed to move through color shifts.

Presently, the mark making acts as a record of human movement and time. About 150 fine tip pens were used to create the piece. This build up of time through movement is meant to convey a sense of stillness within the present now.

I chose Monet’s piece because of his very own need to capture time and light. The form of a drawer pull is used to reference storage and its containment of history.

Starting from the core and moving towards the outer edges of individual pages, the iron within the blood and bee’s wax will leach out and stain the book pages. Each book increases its page length by .1875 inches while decreasing its space between the book edge and stand edge. Each book contains sixty pages.

This piece is an investigation of the enormous amount of information that one processes within a minute of time. I believe that due to our interconnectivity, we process much more information than we can imagine. I also wish to explore the idea of one minute as interconnected with our entire life. With this we could experience major shifts within the “short” period of one minute. One Minute was executed with thousands of straight pencil lines on a fifteen-foot long sheet of paper. Visually this piece might get compared to a large UPC code.
on aims at reconditioning our attention and awareness of time into a more developed muscle, which then could be used for the unimaginable.
