Circulating Memory

This work merges two forms: the gramophone, which once replayed recorded sound through rotation and the expansion of sound, and the carousel, which embodies cyclical motion and evokes childhood memories and nostalgia. By bringing these two forms together, I create an object that transcends simple functionality, suggesting the continuous circulation of memory.

Through its ongoing rotation, the sculpture transforms music into a visual and temporal experience. It invites viewers into a quiet, imaginative soundscape, where memory and imagination resonate as deeply personal melodies within each individual.

Although it no longer produces sound in its original form, the work exists as a “future relic.” It preserves the emotional resonance of the past while offering a new sensory experience that extends beyond its original function.
